MediPearl
Pte Ltd announced today the launch of our first
product, Proveq MPCB. Proveq MPCB is currently available at
the pharmacy of National Cancer Centre and selected
specialist clinics and pharmacy outlets.
Proveq MPCB was launched as a Chinese Proprietary Medicine (CPM)
in Singapore to improve the lung conditions including lung
conditions resulting from smoking. According to the
Pharmacopeia of the People’s Republic of China, the herb
clears heat, relieves toxicity, clears lungs
and resolves
phlegm.
Traditionally, its main clinical usage is for pulmonary
abscess, coughing and improvement of lung conditions
including those resulting from chronic smoking. Proveq MPCB
has been gone through vigorously animal efficacy tests and
animal toxicity studies at MediPearl. No adverse effects
have been observed in animals or patients in our daily
recommended dosage.
A phase I/II trial on Proveq MPCB was conducted at
Department of Medical Oncology, Singapore General Hospital
in advanced lung cancer patients who had failed all
conventional chemotherapies. Patients were
accrued and given Proveq MPCB for 3 months. Proveq MPCB
is well tolerated. Patient’s quality of life is improved.
Patients responded well and median survival time was
extended from the expected 4.5 months to 9.5 months for the
entire group.
MediPearl will extend the clinical trial (phase I) to
late-stage breast cancer patients soon at National Cancer
Centre. MediPearl is also anticipated to have a randomized
phase III clinical trial of Proveq MPCB to 120 advanced
breast cancer patients in the recurrence of patients with
metastasis breast cancer at National Cancer Centre in the
last quarter of the year 2007.
